In 1618, Avedis I, an Armenian alchemist residing in Constantinople, developed a secret method for treating alloys and introduced it to the art of building cymbals with incredible clarity and sustain – a unique blend of copper, tin, and silver is still used in manufacturing Zildjian cymbals to this day.
